Dinner in September 09

Architect: We are considering having a dinner on Saturday the 12th Sept or Saturday the 19th September either in Lionel's house (Exeter) or in Cambridge. Please record your views on these options below.

Lionel: A joyous idea. There'll be food and wine and dancing and singing and fireworks and badgers. Or some of these at least. Seriously though, there will be floor space for a large number and either tent space or room in an outbuilding for others if you don't want the expense of B&B. Train is the easiest way down and is a pretty and pain-free journey. If people wish to drive that does mean we have means of going to the beach or similar if desirable. Architectural comment: Lionel is discussing the possibility of the dinner taking place in Exeter.

James: I saw a badger this evening, it was running across the road. It was stockier than I would have expected, I hadn't seen one before. The dates sound good.

Laura: not the foggiest how to reply on the website, but the 19th works best for me. Jeremy might say different though! Either venue works. Posted by Architect

Rita: I have not seen a badger in the school ground since October, however there are many pheasants around. As to the dates, I should be free on both dates. Since I am travelling from London, I can go to either Exeter or Cambridge.

Martin: Yay yay yay yay yay! Dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner! Yes please. Either place, either time.

Sarah: Yipee! I believe this should be something rather special, given its been so long - dancing, singing and fireworks sound perfect. Keen for either date, either venue.

Clare: I had actually meant to say a few weeks ago that perhaps we could use my birthday (on the 19th) as an excuse to get together, but then I was going to suggest that we meet at my house in Oxford. Perhaps, however, this would be far too controversial?? Just another idea to put out there though!

Juliette I could make the 12th but would favour the 19th as I'm in Sheffield on the 11th and fancied going to the knife museum and other interesting Sheffieldy places that weekend. Either place would be excellent, might even go so far as to say that Exeter seems pleasingly exotic. But then Cambridge is traditional....

Jamie (+1): Greetings. Firstly, could I please bring Rachel and secondly, any venue would do, but we would happily make a weekend of Exeter visiting Rachel's relations there.

Jeremy: 19th and 12th both fine for me. Happy to meet anywhere that isn't Middlesbrough (or further North). Bloody badgers everywhere here. And tame foxes. Oh - and to be more organised than usual, Laura and I will be in Cambridge on 2nd August and I might also be there again on 12th November.

Clare: Woo!! Free both dates, keen for both places (or indeed all three if Oxford is a possibility too) - though Nick has mentioned a preference for a trip down to Exeter.... Can't wait! Did you know that "badger" is "blaireau" in French, "borsuk" in Polish, "bursuc" in Czech, "porsuk" in Turkish and "tasso" in Italian?

Kate: I don't have my diary with me (and won't have for a while as I'm away) but nothing springs immediately to mind for either date, so I think either is good for me. I quite fancy exeter as I've not been down to L's house and would love a visit. Yey for the idea! Would be great to see everyone!!!

Sarah (+1): In line with Jamie's comment, I would like to bring Pete too. He would like to come as well. I guess you guessed that. Apparently, I am the boss (so we were told in Turkey). So I say we are both free on either date!

Helen: I would prefer the 12th but could do the 19th as long as it was in Cam as I have to be back in London early on Sunday morning. Actually Cambridge would really be easier for me and John has an awesome room these days...

Clare: Nick has just found out that he'd like to do an adventure race in devon on the 13th. As well as transport issues, it might not be advisable to eat an enormous meal the night before - therefore, the 19th is now better for us. Sorry!

JohnG: Either would work, preference for Cambridge, also potentially I am me + 1. Posted by Architect

Sam: I think either ven or date would work for hannah and i

Egg: I am actually in Cambridge on the weekend of the 19th for a nutrition conference so long as I could bring a guest - another medic, Ed, who has also applied for a place on the conference I could do the 19th. Exeter would be ok so long as I could share transport down with someone as it will cost a fortune to drive down on my own/the train will take forever I expect!

Juliette On reflection, I may very well have to move out of my room on the 12th/13th so I couldn't do Exeter on that weekend and Cambridge would still be pushing it. So I definitely vote 19th!

Sam: Hannah and I would now prefer the 19th as we have a badminton tournament on the 12/13th.

Sarah: I would prefer the 19th now as I am going to be at home in Northern Ireland on the 10th-12th September.

Architect: Consensus is for the 19th. A decision about the venue will be taken shortly.

Lionel: According to my neighbour badgers make good pets. I know where there is one - perhaps it could be tamed before the dinner.
